I have visited Matheran with cousins on 21 & 22-May-2016. It was kind of family reunion. Travel : Mumbai to Neral by local train Take Neral Matheran toy train. 21 KM. It will take 2 hours. Neral to Dasturi by Omni Taxi. Per seat Rs 70 for Adult and Rs 40 for Child. 8 KM. Takes 30 minutes by Taxi. Pay Rs 50 as Matheran Entry fee at Dasturi Walk till Aman Lodge railway station then walk along railway track for 3 KM to reach Matheran railway station. Horse ride and man pulled carts are available from Dasturi to Matheran for Rs 400 per person Stay : We stayed at Hotel Kumar Plaza. Very nice hotel around 10 minutes walk from Matheran station. Hotel also has small Swimming pool. Karaoke, DJ dance floor and Magic / Fire show at night. Rate: from 5000 per night for couple including breakfast + lunch + evening tea + dinner We paid 2000 per person per day with 4 people in one room. Points must visit : Charlotte lake Echo point
