Sikkim Darjeeling Tour

Visited Sikkim and Darjeeling on 13-Jun-2015 to 20-Jun-2015 with my wife. Here is trip information which you might find helpful to plan your North East trip 

Day 1 - 

1) Mumbai to Bagdogra flight ( Rs 8000 per person)

2) Bagdogra to Kalimpong (Prepaid cab Rs 1400, 3 hours)

3) Kalimpong siteseeing (takes 2 - 3 hours)

    1. Cactus Nurseries

    2. Durbin Dara Monastery
    3. Mangal Dham
    4. Deolo Hill

4) Kalimpong to Gangtok (2.5 hours)
    Full day taxi 4200
    Overnight stay at Gangtok

Day 2 -
1) Gangtok 10 point siteseeing (local taxi Rs 1600. 5 hours)
    1. Bakhtang waterfall

    2. Gunjung Monetrary
    3. Tashi view point
    4. Lasa waterfall
    5. Plant Consertaion
    6. Ganesh Tok
    7. Flower show (must visit)
    8. Ropeway
    9. Institute of Tibetology (Closed on Sunday)
    10. Dro Dul Chorten (stupa)
    11. Institute of Handicrafts and Handloom (Closed on Sunday)

Day 3 -
1) Gangtok siteseeing (local taxi Rs 1800, 7 hours)
  1. BanJhakri water fall

  2. Paragliding (Rs 2500)
  3. Ranka Monestary
  4. Tourist Villa (Rs. 100 Entry, amusement park. can skip)
  5. Rumtek Monestary
  6. Botanical Garden (can skip)
  7. Shanti View point
2) SHOPPING at M G Road

Day 4 - 
Permit needed: ID card xerox and 2 photo

1) Tsomgo (Changu) lake

2) Nathula Pass (Closed Monday and Tuesday)
3) Harbhajan Baba Mandir (Old Baba Mandir + New Baba Mandir)
Private taxi Rs 6000 with Nathula, Rs 3000 without Nathula
Sharing Rs 900 with Nathula, Rs 400 without Nathula + Rs 120 Old Baba Mandir


Day 5 -
1) Gangtok to Namachi (2.5 hours)
2) Namachi Siteseeing (3 hours)
   1. Temi tea garden
   2. Samdruptse

   3. Char dham
   4. Sai Mandir
3) Namchi  to Darjeeling (2.5 hours)
 Full day taxi Rs 4500
Overnight stay at Darjeeling Hotel Seven Seventeen (Rs 1700 per night including taxes)

Day 6 -
1) Darjeeling local mixed point siteseeing (local taxi Rs 2000)
  1. Lal Kothi
  2. Japenese Temple
  3. Peace Pagoda
  4. Rock Garden

  5. Eva art gallery
  6. Zoo
  7. Ropeway (must visit)
  8. Tea Garden
  9. Tibetian Refugee self help center
  10. Tenzing Rock and Gombu Rock

Day 7 -
Get up at 4 AM
1) 3 Point tour (200 per person sharing, 1200 Private taxi)
  1. Sunrise at Tiger Hill
  2. Ghoom Monestary
  3. Batasia Loop
2) Local siteseeing (Done walking)
  1. Zoo (closed on Thursday)
  2. Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (closed on Thursday)
  3. Mahakal Temple
  4. Chowrastra on Mall road (Shopping)
  5. Lloyd Botanical Garden (Can skip)
  6. Toy train Joy Ride (1100 Steam engine, 650 Diesel engine, 30 second class till Ghoom)

Day 8 -
1) Darjeeling to Pashupati Gate (1.5 hours)
  1. Enter into Nepal with local taxi and shopping at Pashupati Market (Cosmetics are damn cheap)
2) Pashupati Market to Mirik lake (20 minutes)

  1. Boating
  2. Horse ridding
3)  Mirik lake to Bagdogra Airport (2 hours)

Darjeeling to Airport via Mirik Taxi 2500
4) Bagdogra to Mumbai flight ( Rs 8000 per person)
